Become - or Host - an Exchange Student.

AFS-USA works toward a more just and peaceful world by providing international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities through a global volunteer partnership.  AFS is a leader in intercultural learning and offers international exchange programs in more than 40 countries around the world through independent AFS Organizations, each with a network of volunteers, a professionally staffed office, and headed up by a volunteer board.  Every year, close to 13,000 students, young adults and teachers choose to study abroad with AFS.

AFS offers many study abroad experiences, as well as opportunities to host a high school foreign exchange student, and volunteer.

Help People Help Themselves

Founded in 2001, Acumen Fund is a global venture fund that uses entrepreneurial approaches to solve the problems of global poverty.  They seek to prove that small amounts of philanthropic capital, combined with large doses of business acumen, can build thriving enterprises that serve vast numbers of the poor.  Their investments focus on delivering affordable, critical goods and services - like health, water, housing and energy - through innovative, market-oriented approaches.  They believe that pioneering entrepreneurs will ultimately find the solutions to poverty.  They use philanthropic capital to make disciplined investments - loans or equity, not grants - that yeild both financial and social returns.  Any financial returns they receive is recycled into new investments.
